UNSTOPPABLE: Bill Nye, book review

As a self-proclaimed critical thinking nerd, Bill Nye balances optimism and scientific curiosity, to turn all obstacles into opportunities, so that possibilities of our world become limitless in his new book UNSTOPPABLE.

Just as World War II called an earlier generation to greatness, so the climate crisis is calling today’s rising youth to action: to create a better future.

Nye comes off as a passionate scientist, environmentalists and inhabitant of our world in his new book. We need to stop acting like renters of this world and start fixing the problems, much like a homeowner, he says. With a scientist’s thirst for knowledge and an engineer’s vision of what can be, Bill Nye sees today’s environmental issues not as insurmountable, depressing problems but as chances for our society to rise to the challenge and create a cleaner, healthier, smarter world.

Our transportation consumes half our energy, and that two-thirds of the energy you put into your car is immediately thrown away out the tailpipe. These dangerous emissions are the price we must pay for a vibrant economy and a comfortable life. Our children (including wildlife and our pets) have been given a planet that is dirty, overheated, and depleted of resources. As Bill shares his vision, he debunks some of the most persistent myths and misunderstandings about global warming. When you are done reading, you’ll be enlightened and empowered. You will make yourself turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth!

And through Bill Nye’s colloquialisms and common sense you will be smiling and ready to join Bill to change the world.

Speaking of which Bill Nye is going to have his own show on NETFLIX!

So far I have read the first few chapters and the last third of the book. I skipped the mid section once I realized that a few chapters in the back consisted of Bill Nye competing with neighbor Ed Begley Jr. for a greener house. I had to read that first!
In Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World, the New York Times bestselling author of Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creationand former host of “Bill Nye the Science Guy” issues a new challenge to today’s generation: to make a cleaner, more efficient, and happier world.
